1910 Liberty Head “V” Nickel
This 1910 Liberty Head Nickel, often called the “V Nickel” for the large Roman numeral on its reverse, represents one of the most elegant and enduring designs in early American coinage. Struck from 1883 to 1913, this series bridged the 19th and 20th centuries, making it a staple for collectors of classic U.S. coins.
The obverse features Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a bold “V” (five) encircled by a wreath, symbolizing the coin’s denomination of five cents.
This 1910 example shows even circulation wear with visible details and natural toning — a true survivor of America’s pre–World War I era.
